Description

The most tightly-coiled and edgy of the estate’s Barbarescos. There is a sense of really small, concentrated berry fruit here. Fresh and with an austere edge, supporting the vital red berry and cherry fruit, notes of small garriguettes strawberries and wineberries. So intense and focused. At fifty years old these are the estate’s oldest vines. The vineyard is south facing and cauldron-like, benefiting from great warmth during the day but, being more influenced by the river, experiencing cooler nights. The soils are siltier and sandier than Rabaja giving the wine a fabulous perfume. Produced the traditional way with a 20 day fermentation and maceration followed by 30 months ageing in large Slavonian oak casks.
