The 2011 Barolo Mariondino is one of the most explosive, ripe wines I have tasted from Marco Parusso in recent years. Black cherries, plums, smoke, spices and new leather all burst from the glass. Readers will need to give the Mariondino at least a few years in bottle, as the 2011 really needs time to lose some of its baby fat. The 2011 was done with 80% stems and aged in 100% new French oak barrels.
