Description
Located between the communes of Barolo and La Morra, Brunate is one of the zone’s most revered sites. Nebbiolo here often achieves a gentle grace that belies the grape’s inherent power. This excellent ’04 seems reticent at first, hidden behind a curtain of mineral tannin. It evolves with air, revealing delicate fruit flavors and a deep, profound earthiness. High notes of red cherries and roses are displayed against a backdrop of savory porcini and black truffle. The structure, too, shows a similar tension, a gentle push-pull between the bright acidity and sinewy, saline tannin. Precise and focused, this will reward patient cellaring for ten to 15 years.
